Condolences Pour In Over Editor Ghulam Nabi Shaida’s Demise

SRINAGAR: Various political parties, associations and leaders have expressed condolences on the passing away of veteran Journalist and Editor Ghulam Nabi Shaida. Shaida was the Owner, Printer and Publisher of Urdu daily ‘Wadi ki Awaaz’ on Tuesday morning.

Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) expresses grief over the demise of veteran Journalist and Editor Ghulam Nabi Shaida. Shaida was the Owner, Printer and Publisher of Urdu daily ‘Wadi ki Awaaz’.

Shaida Sahab who was not keeping in good health for some time breathed his last at his Srinagar residence during the night.

He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Goripora village of Pulwama district.

Ghulam Nabi Shaida was a fearless and an upright Journalist who would always be unbiased in his work as a journalist.

Shaida sahib faced multiple challenges during his career as a journalist and he was even jailed for his work during the early eighties.

It was due to his tireless efforts that Shaida Sahab managed to carve out a niche for himself and his publication ‘Wadi Ki Awaaz’.

The death of the veteran editor is a huge loss for the institution of Journalism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ghulam Nabi Shaida will always be remembered for upholding the values and ethics of Journalism amid the challenging situation.

KEG stands with the family of the deceased editor in this hour of grief.

National Conference

In a statement, National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah and  Omar Abdullah also expressed profound grief over the demise of noted journalist and editor of local Urdu Daily Wadi Ki Awaz Ghulam Nabi Shaida, who breathed his last today after being unwell for past many years.

In their condolence message the Party President and Vice President expressed unison with the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal repose to the departed soul in the highest echelons of Jannah. The duo said the deceased has left deep imprints on account of his writings in the field of Urdu Journalism in Kashmir. Terming Shaida Shahib’s death a great loss to the media fraternity in Kashmir, they recalled his affinity for socio- Cultural activities, saying that well-rounded personality of the deceased would remember for his immense contribution in the field of journalism, culture, and literature. In his demise, the valley has lost a bold and courageous voice, the duo said.

Meanwhile, Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, MP Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi, and Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also condoled the demise of Shaida Sahib, prayed for peace to his soul and fortitude to the bereaved family members.  The functionaries have also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family of the deceased in their hour of grief.

PDP

Peoples Democratic Party also expressed grief and sorrow over demise of veteran Kashmiri Journalist and  Editor of  Urdu daily Wadi Ki Awaz  Gulam Nabi Shaida Sahib.

In a condolence message Party, President Mehbooba Mufti said that Mr Shaida will be always remembered for his unbiased work, honesty and professional integrity. She expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul. Party Vice President Abdul Rehman Veeri, General Secretary Gulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora, Senior Leader Nizamudin Bhat, District President Srinagar Khursheed Aalam, Spokesperson Suhail Bukhari, additional Spokesperson Tahir Syeed And others also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and media fraternity.

Apni Party

Apni Party Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi also expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of valley’s renowned journalist and founder of Wadi-ki-Awaz newspaper Ghulam Nabi Shaida.

In a statement issued here, Andrabi said: “Ghulam Nabi Shaida was one of the sincere journalists that the valley has seen lately. The services he rendered in the field of journalism are exceptional and highly commendable. He was a man of principles and kindness. His untimely demise has created a deep hollow in the community of journalists that is hard to fill.”

He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul. “I on behalf of the Party leadership pray to Allah Almighty bless the departed soul with peace and give patience to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss,” Andrabi observed.

DIPR

Director Information and Public Relations, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar along with officers and employees of the Department of Information and Public Relations also condoled the demise of renowned journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Wadi-ki-Awaz, Ghulam Nabi Shaida.

In this connection, a condolence meeting was chaired by Dr Sehrish at Media Complex here in which all the employees of DIPR participated. The participants expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of GN Shaida.

Speaking during the condolence meet, Dr Sehrish highlighted the contribution of GN Shaida during his professional career and said that his death is a great loss to the society as he played a leading role in highlighting the local public issues through his journalistic work.

Dr Sehrish observed that Shaida Sahab was an able journalist and upright professional who devoted his entire life for public good.

Dr Sehrish and other participants offered their deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

CPI(M)

Expressing deep shock and grief over the death of veteran journalist Ghulam Nabi Shaida, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the demise as a great loss.

“Late Shaida was a veteran journalist. The contribution made by him in the field of journalism will always be remembered. In his death, we have lost a great asset and the vacuum left by his passing away in the media fraternity would be difficult to fill.”

Tarigami expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and media fraternity.

AAC

Jammu & Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of the veteran journalist of Valley Ghulam Nabi Shaida.

In a statement, the AAC paid glowing tributes to Ghulam Nabi Shaida for his decades-long services in the field of journalism in Jammu & Kashmir.

“Late Ghulam Nabi Shaida was a hardworking, honest and an experienced journalist who championed for the rights of Kashmiris even in the hard times for which he was time and again suppressed by the successive governments,” the AAC said.

The statement further said that Late Ghulam Nabi Shaida had personal relations with AAC founder Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq and together they used to discuss the issues concerning the people of Kashmir which he would then highlight in his reputed newspaper.

The AAC said the demise of Ghulam Nabi Shaida had created a void in the field of journalism in Kashmir and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family on behalf of the organisation’s chairman Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq who continues to be under house arrest. It also prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed soul.
