SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Saturday said that after installation of bailey bridge near Kela Morh, Ramban, on Sunday subject to fair weather and better road condition only one-way traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu including Banihal, Ramban (local traffic) on Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle shall be allowed in the opposite direction.
“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton. TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic. Permanent restoration of the road will take time and is expected by 1st week of March 2021,” said the advisory.
“ LMVs will have to cross Zig Qazigund from 07:00 am to 10:00 am and no Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.
It said that only stranded heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed Zig (Qazigund) towards Jammu after light motor vehicles.
“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of highway,” it added.
“On 22-1-2021 Friday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW,” it added.
The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.
It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.
