Respite From Cold Wave In Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Weather continued to improve across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Sunday as the long spell of the cold wave was broken by bright sunny days and comparatively warmer nights, which is likely to continue during the next week, said the MeT department.

“Weather has remarkably improved in J&K and Ladakh. Cold wave has already broken as bright sunny days and comparatively warmer nights are expected during the next 7 days,” an official of the meteorological (MeT) department said.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where the minimum temperature was minus 3.8 degrees celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K recorded a low of minus 0.4 while the mercury in the famous Skii resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius.

The minimum night temperature at Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 0.5 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 1.8 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 9.3 degrees Celsius, Katra town 9.6, Batote 4.7, Banihal 1.0 and Bhaderwah 2.2 as the minimum temperatures.
