SRINAGAR: In the last 24 hours when the entire Jammu and Kashmir is paralysed by a serious lockdown, 59 fresh deaths were reported. Besides, 4141 new infections were registered across Jammu and Kashmir.
With the fresh toll of 59 deaths, the overall death by Covid19 has reached 3149 people. These include 1710 in Kashmir and 1439 in Jammu.
As many as 31 deaths took place in Jammu and 28 in Kashmir divisions, the information revealed by the government said.
For the first time ever since the Covid19 entered Jammu and Kashmir, the twin capital cities shared the same mortality – 16 citizens each.
The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost four citizens in Kupwara, three in Pulwama, two each in Baramulla, Budgam, and one in Anantnag.
Apart from 16 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost six citizens from Rajouri (this is the same number for the second consecutive day), three each in Kathua and Samba, and one each in Udhampur, Doda, and Poonch.
In the last 24 hours, officials said 4141 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 831. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 625 cases.
Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 2451 cases against 1690 of the Jammu division.
In Kashmir, the new cases include 252 from Baramulla, 320 from Budgam, 177 from Pulwama, 148 from Kupwara, 199 from Anantnag, 89 from Bandipora, 152 from Ganderbal, 228 from Kulgam, and 55 from Shopian.
From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 192, Rajouri 237, Doda 77, Kathua 186, Samba 145, Kishtwar 41, Poonch 106, Ramban 65, and Reasi 16.
Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 51623 active cases, which includes 31189 in Kashmir 20434 in Jammu. It means Kashmir has almost double the active cases in comparison to Jammu.
