SRINAGAR: The last 24 hours have not offered any solace as the Covid19 continues with its dangerous phase in Jammu and Kashmir. Overnight, Jammu and Kashmir lost 71 people as fresh 3967 cases were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.
Kashmir lost 32 citizens and Jammu 39 in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 3967 new infections were registered across Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours. This was despite the lockdown that has literally paralysed life across the erstwhile state.
Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3293 people including 1761 in Kashmir and 1532 in Jammu.
As many as 20 deaths took place in Jammu city and 11 in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.
The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost four citizens each in Baramulla and Pulwama, three in Kupwara, and two each in Budgam, Anantnag, Bandipore, Ganderbal and Kulgam.
Apart from 20 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost 6citizens from Rajouri, five each in Udhampur and Kathua, two in Kathua, and one in Doda.
In the last 24 hours, officials said 3967 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 666. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 522 cases.
Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 2263 cases against 1704 of the Jammu division.
In Kashmir, the new cases include 196 from Baramulla, 454 from Budgam, 127 from Pulwama, 120 from Kupwara, 156 from Anantnag, 134 from Bandipora, 116 from Ganderbal, 190 from Kulgam, and 104 from Shopian.
From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 272, Rajouri 141, Doda 59, Kathua 183, Samba 107, Kishtwar 49, Poonch 123, Ramban 188, and Reasi 60.
Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 50925 active cases, which includes 29904 in Kashmir 21021 in Jammu. It means Kashmir has almost double the active cases in comparison to Jammu.
